The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM) today expressed concern at how political activities were evolving, in relation to the work done by journalists.

It appealed for respect to journalists on duty and said it was unacceptable that they were hindered. In cases such as that in front of the courts this morning, the institute said, they should be given protection.

The institute said it would soon be publishing a proposal which was to be discussed by its council and which should address the unacceptable situation towards journalists on duty, particularly in activities organised by political parties.
