The iCentre Training Lab in Pieta’ has launched its first courses to satisfy the demand for both basic and specialised skills training related to the use of computers.

The lab, set-up by iCentre, Malta’s authorised Apple service provider, offers an extensive list of training programmes that addresses a range of technical expertise required by students, IT professionals in business or educators among others.

“I strongly believe that training is the quickest and most cost effective way to maximise the potential of today’s digital technology,” according to Adrian Micallef, general manager at iCentre. “We are already planning new courses and these will surely include the new Mac OS X Lion expected later on this year.”

Although there are courses that focus on proficiency in the use of Apple software, especially the Mac OS X operating system and applications software, there are other courses that focus on the skills rather than the software, such as in photography and desktop publishing.

March is jam-packed with courses that cover such software as Adobe InDesign, Mac OS X, and iMovie and skills such as basic photo editing and audio engineering.

Courses vary in length according to the subject matter from a couple of hours to more than 30 hours. Only a limited number of participants, usually not more than 10, will be assigned per class and each trainee will have a Mac workstation to work on since courses are very hands-on.

A detailed schedule of courses is available on the iCentre website at www.icentre.com.mt. Potential trainees who would like more information or would like to apply can send an e-mail to training@icentre.com.mt.
