Simon Zammit and Alex Borg suffered their first defeats in the IBSF World Championships, currently being played in Thailand.

Zammit, third in Group C, chalked up his third successive win of the competition after having the better of Maltese-Australian James Mifsud 4-0. However, his perfect run was brought to a halt following a 4-0 defeat to group leader Joseph Meara, of Northern Ireland.

Borg also notched his third win in Group D after overcoming Jutah Fakuda, of Japan, 4-1. However, the Malta champion then suffered successive defeats to UAE's Mohammed Al Joker (4-1) and Dene O'Kane, of New Zealand, 4-3. He lies sixth in the group.
