Convicted criminal Charles Attard, known as Iż-Żambi, is refusing to explain his role in a meeting between the Home Affairs Ministry’s chief of staff and a man wrongly accused of carrying out a hold-up.

“I have no comment to make,” Mr Attard kept insisting to repeated questions by Times of Malta, which prompted calls by the Opposition for Silvio Scerri, the ministry’s chief of staff, to resign. Mr Scerri has denied claims that he engaged Attard as a go-between to arrange the meeting.
