Guns and other hunting paraphernalia which had been confiscated by the police since the start of the season on Wednesday have been returned to their owners.

The Hunting Federation (FKNK) in a statement said that this season had brought with it several new procedures and requirements which saw police officers confiscating around 25 shotguns, several cartridges, armbands, special licences and carnet de chasse booklets for offences that under normal circumstances were regarded as minor.

These included not carrying the special licence while hunting.

The FKNK said that common sense finally prevailed and the confiscated items were today returned to their owners with a written warning.

The FKNK welcomes this police action and appreciated the decision taken, as well as the Prime Minister's advice.

The federation reminded special licence holders to always carry their special licence and carnet de chasse and to wear their armband while hunting.
