The FKNK Hunters' Federation and St Hubert's Hunters' Association have written to the German ambassador, complaining that he has taken no apparent interest in what happened during the short Spring hunting season, particularly the activities of the Munich-based CABS organisation.

In the letter, to Dr Hubert Ziegler, Joseph Perici Calascione, who signed the letter, said:

"I refer to my my e-mail of the 14 May 2012 sent to you on behalf of the Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) which was followed by two reminders on the 12 and 16 June 2012 which which have unfortunately not met your attention.

I fully understand that you may not wish to commit yourself on the issue and that  the controversial topic of hunting and trapping in the Maltese islands is one that you would rather keep a distance from, however the fact that German nationals were involved in what we are claiming to be illegal activities in our country should, in the least, stir your interest.

Your lack of response incites us to believe that you do not consider this issue as serious enough to contemplate your involvement, however, to us, the action by your co-nationals as detailed in said e-mail are extremely serious and have stirred an overall negative reaction.

Once again, I appeal your better better sense of judgement and request a short meeting that could assist us in better assessing the situation, in case, as stated by your co-nationals, they exercise their publicised intention to repeat their actions in forthcoming hinting seasons.

We participate in a passion that is shared by millions of persons across Europe, not least in their own country, and while we are completely against any form of illegal activities in the field, we cannot accept certain measures taken by normal citizens who feel they are themselves above the law and act as self-proclaimed jury, judge and executioner.
