Hunters have called on the government to announce the dates of the autumn season, expected to start in the next three weeks.

In a statement, the Hunters' Federation FKNK said that hunters and trappers were, yet again, being held in the dark because the government had not yet confirmed the Ornis Committee recommendations it was given in June for the opening of the season.

This was in spite of the fact that the majority of hunters and trappers had paid their licences in January.

The federation said that hunters and trappers all over the world did not have any problems in getting to know the exact dates of their seasons because these were fixed, as they should be.

It asked why was the government persisted in torturing the thousands of Maltese and Gozitans who had this passions, especially since this was not the spring season but a season there had never been problems with.
