The hunters' federation complained today about theft from an aviary it maintains at Zebbug and vandalism of trees at Mizieb.

The federation explained that in terms of an agreement reached in February 1999 with Zebbug council, it supplied and took care of cage birds in an aviary in Gnien l-Infetti .

Over the years there had been several instances of vandalism. Doors had been broken, petards had been thrown at the birds and syringes were found inside the aviary. The worst case occurred last month were somebody broke in and stole all the birds.

Furthermore, the FKNK said, its sub-committee responsible for Mizieb had reported several cases of vandalism against trees. Branches had been broken and waste was being left in the area after barbecues, the federation said.
