Swashbuckling theatre company MADC has this year adapted adventure story Treasure Island for its annual pantomime, held at the MFCC in Ta’Qali.

Written and directed by Malcolm Galea, the musical production features Jean Pierre Busuttil as the Dame, Alan Montanaro as Long John Swagger, Alexander Gatesy as Jim Hawkins and Tina Rizzo as Miss Ħuta.

Young Jim Hawkins, who is deeply in love with Miss Ħuta, is given a treasure map and learns that the loot also includes a magical amulet that can cure his beloved Miss Ħuta of her curse. Jim, along with his mother, Dame Mama Sufia Kerapestska, embarks on an adventure to retrieve the treasure but soon learns pirates, led by Long John Swagger, are also after the treasure.

The panto features 13 songs and choreography by Alison White. Paul Abela serves as musical director, while Roger Tirazona is this year’s vocal coach. The sets were designed by Claudio Apap.

This is the company’s 36th Christmas pantomime and it runs until January 3.
