Aditus, an NGO focused on the promotion of human rights, has over the past two weeks, provided human rights training  to members of various African communities  living in Malta.

The training, spread over two sessions, formed part of the 'I'm Not Racist, But...' project co-funded by the EU PROGRESS funds (2007-2013) and implemented by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE).

The Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS), the Jesuit Refugee Service Malta and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees are partners in the project.

The training was delivered by Dr Neil Falzon, director of the Aditus Foundation.

"The involvement of Aditus'  in this project acknowledges the need of various communities to understand their roles in Maltese society, in terms of their human rights and also of their duties."  Dr Falzon said.

Around 130 men and women attended the interactive and participatory activities that were aimed at explaining key human rights principles and skills. Through the use of various training tools, Dr. Falzon  explained the nature of human rights, different perspectives of such rights and also tools for recognising one's own potential in realising one's full human rights potential.
