Renowned British skipper Alex Thomson is looking forward to “some good weather” as he prepares to compete in the Rolex Middle Sea Race for the first time in his career.

Thomson’s participation has enhanced the prestige of this year’s Rolex Middle Sea Race, setting off tomorrow morning at 11 am from the Grand Harbour, as the Wales-born skipper has been making waves on the international sailing scene, finishing third in the world-renowned Vendee-Globe race last January on board his eye-catching Hugo Boss boat.

Interviewed by timesofmalta.com just hours after his arrival in Malta today, Thomson, who will be partnered by Guillermo Altadill, speaks of his ambitions for the Rolex Middle Sea Race, his back-up team’s impressions of Malta and his target time to complete the 606-nautical mile Mediterranean Classic which has attracted a record fleet of 102 boats.
