The HSBC Malta Foundation is supporting the Rights 4U courses, organised by the Office of the Commissioner for children.

The courses are an interactive, live-in, three-day programme where children take part in activities to explore and engage in discussions about their rights.

Focusing on personal development as well as human rights education, the course empowers children to stand up for their rights and participate in matters of social concern.

This is the sixth year the programme has been held and this year it coincides with the European Year dedicated to Poverty and Social Exclusion. The European initiative is particularly aimed at children between the age of 13 and 16 living in poverty or experiencing social exclusion.

“The HSBC Malta Foundation feels privileged to facilitate this wonderful programme. Its inspirational structure encourages disadvantaged children to socialise, make new friends and most importantly, to understand their rights within society.

“The children are given the opportunity to share experiences and speak about their needs. Society is certainly enriched when it listens to the voice of children,” said HSBC Malta Foundation chairman Catherine Gonzi.
