HSBC Malta has given financial assistance to the Mellieħa local council to buy trees and plants for a new garden at Manikata, called Ġnien iż-Żernieq as part of its ongoing initiative to help local councils realise small-scale projects and programmes.

The garden, which has a playing field and picnic area, is situated directly opposite the Manikata church.

HSBC believes that local councils often bring significant improvements to the lives of people in local communities, Anthony Buttigieg, HSBC's north area director, said.

The bank is giving every local council in Malta and Gozo a contribution for community initiatives for the environment, children, education or heritage in their area.
