HSBC Group chief executive Michael Geoghegan is visiting Malta as part of his annual Global Roadshow for the fourth consecutive year.

Mr Geoghegan will address over 1,000 HSBC Malta staff at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, tomorrow.

Each year, Mr Geoghegan travels the world with his Roadshow to understand the real issues HSBC employees are faced with and to answer questions on HSBC's strategy. He will also speak about HSBC Group's performance and priorities for the year ahead.

This year the Roadshow will take him to 18 countries. It started on Monday in Buenos Aires and has stopped in Mexico City, Vancouver, New York and Dusseldorf.

Mr Geoghegan will be flying to Malta from Paris and will head to Istanbul in less than 24 hours. He wraps up his worldwide tour in London on October 20.

Mr Geoghegan has often said that he values the opportunity to meet face-to-face with his colleagues to get the perspective of people on the ground.

"It's amazing, even in different countries, how often the same subject will come up," he said. "When it does, you know that's what people are worried about, that's where a problem may lie."

HSBC has announced that from February 1, Mr Geoghegan will be moving his principal office to Hong Kong to focus on emerging markets.

"The Roadshow is a great opportunity for employees to be updated on HSBC's strategy and global priorities," HSBC Bank Malta's chief executive officer Alan Richards said this week.

"The presentation is highly interactive and the question and answer session is particularly valuable. Mike's presence gives the whole team a real lift."
