An appeal by HSBC Malta for staff members to support vulnerable women and teenage girls by giving them everyday essentials and, perhaps, a few luxuries resulted in more than 400 “little bags of happiness”.

The campaign was run to mark the International Women’s Day and the items collected – including luxuries that ranged from toiletries to makeup kits – were distributed among 10 NGOs.

The recipients were: Corradino Correctional Facility, Dar Qalb Ta’ Ġesu, Aġenzija Appoġġ, Aġenzija Sapport, Dar Merħba Bik, St Jeanne Antide Foundation, Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem (Dar Imelda, Dar Tereża Spinelli), Caritas Et Iris of San Blas, Angel Tree Club Malta and Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja.

The Aġenzija Appoġġ representative told the bank officials that at least 15 of the pink bags would be given to many women the organisation was assisting after being rescued from an anti-human trafficking operation.
