TREATS, a treasury real-time trading system that automatically moves treasury deals from a trader's touch-screen through the back office system for processing and out over international wires for funds transfer, has won the Best Treasury and Cash Management Achievement in The European Banking Technology Awards for 2007.
Twenty years since its implementation, TREATS still provides HSBC worldwide with state-of- the-art treasury transactional capability, while traders are able to analyse and execute.
"In Malta, HSBC customers benefit in no small way from our use of HSBC Group's successful and reliable global systems," Shaun Wallis, HSBC Malta's CEO, said. "This is but one example of how we are 'joined up'."
Meanwhile, HSBC Group held a global investor relations event in London on November 23.
Stephen Green, HSBC Group chairman, cited Malta as "an example of a market where HSBC has scale and competitive advantage," as he put it, "where we have a right to win".
"Our Malta business is very much part of the HSBC Group and one we intend to grow," Mr Wallis remarked.
"I trust this dispels any speculative thoughts about HSBC's future in Malta as reported in one of the UK Sunday papers."
