later this year HSBC Bank Malta is to upgrade its electronic point of sale (EPOS) system, following the signing of an agreement for the delivery of an upgraded EPOS solution, the bank announced last week.

This agreement, which was signed between HSBC Bank Malta plc and SG Solutions Ltd, will enable HSBC Bank Malta to implement a phased replacement of the older EPOS infrastructure and terminals with a more modern solution that will ensure a much faster and enhanced customer and merchant experience.

"We are extremely proud to have been entrusted with the delivery of such an important system," SG Solutions Ltd chairman Anthony Galea said. "Once the project is concluded, HSBC will have an improved EPOS system available to all customers who make use of their credit and debit cards for their purchases."

The signing ceremony, held at HSBC Bank Malta's Head office in Valletta, was attended by Joseph Gasan, director; David Wallbank, CEO; Antoine Galea, sales director; and Tony Saliba, senior manager, technical and development, on behalf of SG Solutions Ltd. Shaun Wallis, CEO; Desmond Don-Paul, head of banking services; Philip Farrugia, deputy head of banking services; and Nicolò Baldacchino Orland, card products manager, attended on behalf of HSBC Bank Malta.

"HSBC is committed to investing in the latest technology to ensure that our customers can enjoy the best possible service," Mr Wallis said. "This upgrade, which follows the one recently concluded on our ATM network, will give all our cardholders access to the best equipment through which they can access their funds when effecting purchases."
