An HP seminar was held for business partners, customers and the media, on Monday and Tuesday at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.

The seminar consisted of three parts, focusing on the new product announcement on January 19 on the Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) for the small and medium-sized business (SMB) range. On Monday, there was a special focus on the latest developments and news from HP's IPG and its Personal Systems Group.

On Tuesday morning, the focus was on HP's product and solutions portfolio for the Enterprise Business, as well as the latest news on industry specific solutions, storage, technology servers, management software, technical services and consulting services.

On Tuesday afternoon, the seminar provided a deep insight into the HP Blade System approach, highlighted by a hands-on live Blade demo.

¤ HP's Mobility Products - notebooks, iPAQs, with new product information on workstations, desktops and related accessories;

¤ HP Technology Servers - HP standardises to simplify, then innovates to add value;

¤ IT Service Management;

¤ the HP Blade System approach - business overview;

¤ FIMBank Testimonial - the real benefits of HP Blade; and

¤ the HP Blade System approach - technical overview.

Participants had the opportunity to be informed on the latest developments in the fields of both HP hardware and software. The line-up of HP speakers included: Franz Scherz, managing director of the HP CDG European Emerging Markets (EEM); Gerald Hampapa, IPG business development manager; Alistair Round, PSP country manager of HP CDG; Patrick Diaz, ISS & NSS sales manager of HP CDG; Matthias Hehnen, solution architect of HP EEM; Boris Nakev, HP Software sales manager Bulgaria and CDG; and Bystrik Polak, service sales CDG.

Nuno Fernandez, technical consultant for the Enterprise Systems Group of Systec Ltd, handled the Blade live demo.

"HP continues the active exchange of updated news about HP technology with its partners, managers, technical customers and media in Malta," Mr Scherz said. "The main objective of events such as this is to inform customers and partners in Malta how to improve their competitiveness in the market and at the same time in adapting solutions that will best serve for their needs in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness."

During the partner dinner held at Palazzo Parisio, a series of awards were presented to HP partners in Malta. Megabyte Ltd received the 'Enterprise Server and Storage Partner for 2005' and a special prize for mention for 'Installing the largest Storage Solution in 2005'.

Fortune Technology was presented with 'Best Growth for 2005' award, and Systec Ltd was awarded the 'Best-in-Class Distributor for 2005'. Nuno Fernandes from Systec Ltd was named 'HP CDG Blade Ambassador of the Year 2005'.
