A Gozitan man who has had enough of big trucks damaging his house as they drive past, yesterday filed a judicial protest holding the authorities responsible and calling on them to heed his appeal for action.

Paul Scicluna, who owns a property in Birbuba Road, Għarb, said trucks and tractors "wider than the street itself" were scraping past his house and knocking down large bricks forming part of an external wall.

He filed his protest against Transport Malta, the police and Għarb local council, saying he had written to them a year ago about the dangerous situation and the threats posed to residents and the public at large. In his letter, he had suggested that road signs prohibiting large vehicles from driving through the road be erected. However, nothing had been done to date and the damage only got worse, he said in his judicial protest.

Mr Scicluna is asking the authorities to take all the necessary measures to ensure that vehicles that are too wide for the road stop driving through it.

Lawyer Aldo Vella signed the protest.
