Grech 30; Nkwankwo 79

Victoria Hotspurs were held to a draw by third-placed Għajnsielem but the point gained was still good enough for the Citizens to join Nadur at the top of the table.

This was a direct clash between two teams vying for the honours this season.

The Hotspurs were the better side in the early stages and an attempt by John Paul Grima came off the woodwork. They took the lead midway through the first half when Ryan Grech hit home from the distance.

Before half-time Victoria keeper Grima was called to make two difficult saves from strikes by Martin Cremona and Rodrigo Cariaga.

The Blacks levelled the score early in the second period thanks to a header by Thiago dos Santos. However, during Għajnsielem's best patch, Victoria regained the lead when Eric Nkwankwo finished a fast break by lobbing the ball into the net.

Għajnsielem were not demoralised though and grabbed an equaliser two minutes from time when Noel Borg turned the ball into his own net as he tried to clear Cariaga's cross.

Division Two

Promotion seekers St Lawrence Spurs and Xagħra United chalked up their sixth victory after beating Munxar Falcons and Għarb Rangers respectively.

The Spurs had a difficult match against Munxar but the latter were erratic in their finishing and failed to take advantage of an extra player on the field in the final stages after the Saints had Stefan Sultana sent off for a second caution.

The Spurs scored in stoppage time through Shaun Muscat.

Xagħra cruised to a 3-1 victory over Għarb. The Blues opened a three-goal lead following goals from Philip Attard, Michael Bezzina and Mark Buhagiar. Għarb reduced the deficit with a goal by Clayton Hili.
