Kevin De Cesare is the new president of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association.

He succeeds Josef Formosa Gauci who resigned from this post and from the MHRA council after being appointed CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority.

Mr De Cesare, executive director of the Eden Leisure Group, comes from a family with a long history associated with the hospitality industry.

He has been serving as a council member of MHRA for a number of years and was also a member of the tourism consultative group appointed by the Prime Minister in late 2006. The group was responsible for drawing up a set of recommendations on key issues facing the tourism industry at the time.

Michael Zammit Tabona and Winston Zahra Jr remain vicepresidents and the rest of council also remains unchanged.

The MHRA, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, represents 70 per cent of all hotels in Malta and 35 per cent of all restaurants.
