Hotels continued to have a rough time in June as occupancy fell by 14.1 to 57.1 per cent compared to a year before.
The National Statistics Office said the number of guests totalled 108,903, of which 94,976 were tourists. They spent 664,903 nights, 18.7 per cent less compared to the same month last year, with the largest drops registered in four- and three-star hotels.
The average length of stay was 6.1 nights.
The overall supply of beds in Malta rose by 0.9 per cent to 37,332 but the number taken up dropped by 14 to 57.3 per cent.
Similarly, the number of beds in Gozo and Comino rose by two per cent but use fell by 14.5 per cent.
The figures follow the trend of previous months.
