Total arrivals and nights spent in hotels during November advanced by 14.3 and 12.3 per cent respectively when compared to the corresponding month in 2012, the NSO said today.
 
Total arrivals amounted to 102,016, while total nights spent numbered 539,606. Almost all establishments recorded increases in total nights spent, with the exception of a 0.5 per cent decline in 4-star hotels.

The largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, accounting for 254,727 nights, or 47.2 per cent of the total.

The average length of stay stood at 5.3 nights, practically unchanged when compared to November 2012. The net use of bedplaces amounted to 48.2 per cent, an increase of 5.5 percentage points when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. 

Total arrivals in Malta numbered 96,238, an increase of 12.7 per cent over November 2012. Additionally, a rise of 11.8 per cent was recorded in the number of nights spent. levels. The net occupancy rate went up from 43.2 per cent to 48.7 per cent.

Total arrivals and nights spent in Gozo and Comino advanced by 49.4 and 32.6 per cent when compared to the comparative month in 2012, to 5,779 and 15,512 respectively.

On a national level, there were 142 active collective accommodation establishments during
November, with a net capacity of 17,621 bedrooms and 38,607 bed-places.

On average, each establishment had 2.2 beds per room.
