A 51-year-old man from Mosta was seriously injured when a horse bolted into his white Subaru as he was driving in Ta' Kandja Road, Hal Farrug.

The horse, which appeared to have bolted was slightly injured. His owner took him away from the site after giving him an injection.

The accident happened at around 2 p.m.

The Subaru's bonnet and roof were heavily damaged and the windscreen was smashed.

The owner of the horse said on the scene that he had left the horse locked in a nearby stable but when he returned he found the stable door open, with the padlock on the floor.
