I disagree with Ivo Galea on the last paragraph in his letter On Bad Sermons And Good Homilies (March 26). In my opinion, at Our Lady Of Lourdes parish church in San Ġwann there are three fathers who can deliver a very good homily and pass on an excellent message to the congregation.

Some time ago in this newspaper a reader congratulated one of these fathers and mentioned him by name.

This father said Mass on Saturday at 7 p.m. and my children were present. At home later they were talking about the good homily he delivered. That means that 50 per cent are excellent at delivering homilies. Two of the rest are moderate and not that bad and I assure Mr Galea that if he has been to other parishes he has heard much worse than theirs. The other is not bad but he is so saintly and good that his homilies are only good for nuns and priests. In other words I think that he wants everyone to be as good and that is why he preaches that way.

One thing is certain: None of the six priests mean to insult anybody in the pews.
