The last supper display at Domus Pius IX in Cospicua needs no introduction. Throughout the years, the exhibition continued to gain importance.

Members have continued to enhance their capabilities over the years. The plates adorning the tables are very sharp and intricate. Pasta, rice, peas, other cereal and salt adorn the plates, all of which bear religious themes. There are other decorations on the table such as silver items like fjoretti, candelabras, gasses and small plates, together with fruit and vegetables.

The group reproduced paintings made by famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Dali, Caravaggio and Michelangelo.

This year’s theme centres around St Peter, with the title Irgħa n-nagħaġ tiegħi, while the old masters chosen this year include Caravaggio, Guercino, Raffaello, Perugino, Bernardo Strozzi and others.

Skene is once again preparing to put up a Passion play with a difference.

Written by Fr Ġwann Abela, this year’s Passion play is called Dawl, which was performed for the first time at the Catholic Institute in 1991 by Mask, while Skene themselves performed it in 1996. Today, 23 years later, Skene has decided to  perform this Passion play which is still very relevant today. The play is being directed by James Sultana.

The story is about a blind man who turns to gossip so as to earn a living. He sits and listens to the world go by. He comes before Jesus; however, the meeting did not end as one would have imagined.

The production stars Stefan Galea Debono, Shazney Mifsud, Karl Schembri, Steve Cilia, Ryan Galea, Stephanie Ellul Axiaq, Mandy Muscat, Alan Falzon, Gino Tanti, Paul Saliba and Julian Galea.

Dawl will be performed Sunday and Monday at the Metanoia Theatre in Luqa.  Tickets may be purchased from ticketline.com.mt or by calling ticket hotline 7979 2424.
