British Catholic Bishop Richard Williamson was convicted of denying the Holocaust by a German court today.

The court in the Bavarian city of Regensburg found ultra-conservative Williamson guilty of incitement for saying in an interview with Swedish television that he did not believe Jews were killed in gas chambers during the Second World War.

The court fined him £10,000.

He was barred by his order from attending the hearing.
