Depiro Still cleared a difficult hurdle in their bid to retain the Louis Borg Cup after eliminating Hibs Go Mobile over two legs to book their place in the final against Luxol Vodafone.

Depiro relied on experience and fast play to have the better of Hibs who faltered in the second leg. The first match was balanced with Hibs edging in front but Depiro always within striking distance. Lucienne Bezzina, of Hibs, potted the first seven points after the interval but Depiro's last efforts saw them levelling the score at 41-41 before the final whistle.

The second leg saw Depiro taking control from the jumpball, notching the first nine points. Hibs tried their best to close the gap but a 16-4 break at the start of the third quarter paved Depiro's way to the final. They finished deserved winners 56-37 for an overall 97-78 aggregate.

Luxol lived up to expectations and trounced Hamrun 147-59 on two legs.

Steve Gouder's team kept in touch for the first three sessions in the first leg as a scrappy Luxol side led 34-23. But Luxol were back to their best in the late stages to take a comfortable 67-29 lead for the second leg.

They dominated the second game all the way, giving little room for Hamrun to manoeuvre as they finished 84-30 winners.

Women's league: (Saturday) 2 p.m. Depiro vs Naxxar. (Sunday) 9.15 a.m. Kerygma vs Hamrun; 12.45 p.m. Hibs vs Luxol.
