A thief made off with a €150 in a hold-up at a shop in Main Street, Balzan, yesterday evening, the police said.

The police said that it was at about 7 p.m. when a lone thief, who was hooded and who was holding a fire arm, entered the shop and demanded money from a young woman who was closing the shop.

The thief sped out and ran away as he was given the money.

No one was injured in the hold-up, the police said.

A magisterial inquiry is being held with the assistance of various court experts as the police investigate further.
