Hoarding has finally been removed at the new City Gate bridge.

The bridge has been narrowed to seven metres, close to its original 16th-century width.

Over the years the bridge has been widened from six metres to 20 metres.

The narrowing of the structure also involved fresh repairs on a section which suffered bomb damage during the war. Different sections were kept open for pedestrians through the works.

The bridge forms part of the City Gate project that included the building of a new parliament building, open-air theatre and entrance to the capital.
