The UK-based Glarac Association - set up in memory of 1,500 sailors who died on the HMS Glorious and its accompanying ships in June 1940 - recently held a memorial service at the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa to honour the 40 Maltese crew members who perished after the ships sank. The service was opened by the association's treasurer, David Emery (photo), before prayers were recited and wreaths laid in front of a commemorative plaque. The participants included Glarac's representative in Malta, Vincent Zahra.
