Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has made up his mind about whether he will stay in Munich next season but will not announce his decision until late January.

In an interview with ProSieben TV after Bayern routed Aris Salonika 6-0 in their final UEFA Cup group game, Hitzfeld said speculation he would be sacked if Bayern failed to advance in the competition reached "ridiculous" levels.

"I know what I'm going to do and I'll inform Bayern of my decision at the end of January," said Hitzfeld, who is reportedly a top candidate to become Switzerland's coach.

"I'll definitely be staying at Bayern Munich for the second half of the season," he said when asked about the speculation he might leave or be sacked in the mid-season winter break.

"I hope we'll be able to win a couple of titles."

Hitzfeld came under pressure after Bayern had won only two of their last eight matches in all competitions.

They lead the Bundesliga table at mid-season on goal difference despite their recent slump.
