Arrangements are being made for documents of historic value which belonged to the late Prime Minister Dom Mintoff and Mrs Mintoff to be archived.

Mr and Mrs Mintoff's heirs said in a statement they have also set aside items of national significance in anticipation that these would be displayed professionally in a national museum.

Anna McKenna, Yana Bland Mintoff and their children said they recognised the national importance of Mr and Mrs Mintoff’s heritage and worked conscientiously and thoroughly to identify documents that had historic value.

An auction next week will sell some of Mr Mintoff’s possessions, ranging from paintings, china, silver, jewellery and books, to a trademark leather belt with a sizeable buckle with horse and horseshoe motifs and 60 of his walking sticks.

The items can be viewed at Mr Mintoff’s residence at The Olives, Triq ix Xintill, Tarxien until 5pm today. The auction will take place over four days at Belgravia Auction Gallery in St Julian’s between March 5 and 8.
