Hilton and Hilton Malta have taken one step further into becoming a more responsible corporation to add to its list of environmental initiatives.

Since January 2006 Hilton Malta has fully participated in the Hilton International environmental initiative 'We care' campaign.

The aim is to focus on environmental issues and resource efficiency with a target of five per cent reduction on utility costs for 2006.

This experience was also shared with the Ministry of the Environment and Rural Affairs and their Green Leaders, who were shown a number of initiatives that Hilton Malta embarked on for more sustainable and cost-saving projects.

Mainly these were two new Reverse Osmosis units which fully supply the hotel's fresh water needs, the conversion from diesel to gas burners for its hot water system, and the waste water treatment for the irrigation system.

These projects also helped the hotel achieve the EU Eco-Label by the Malta Standards Authority, which makes Hilton Malta the first to be recognised with this prestigious award.

To celebrate this success Hilton Malta contributed a further 100 trees for the 34U campaign which were planted at Salina last month.
