Total Malta Government Stock turnover amounted to a nominal value of Lm5,663,900 being traded in 68 deals over 21 different stocks. Of this total, a nominal value of Lm4,081,500 changed hands in the 5.6 per cent MGS 2005 (II) over just one deal while Lm1,356,500 changed hands in the 7.8 per cent MGS 2018 over twelve deals. Trading over the week in Corporate Bonds was made up of a total value of Lm120,014.

Bank of Valletta shares witnessed an increase of 6c during the week after Monday's trading session opened at Lm2.660, while yesterday's session closed at Lm2.72. 39,022 shares changed hands in total, over 39 deals. 2,000 shares at Lm2.705 and 4,887 shares at Lm2.745 were the best unsatisfied bids and offers respectively after yesterday's session came to a close.

Maltacom shares opened at Lm1.25 on Monday, with trading reaching a weekly high of Lm1.26 during that session. The rest of the week saw the price ease back to close yesterday at Lm1.20. Total turnover for the week amounted to 82,238 shares changing hands over 42 deals. At the close of business yesterday, best bids for 2,000 shares at Lm1.191 stood against best offers of 1,000 shares at Lm1.23.

Trading in HSBC shares opened at Lm5.80 on Monday and went up to close yesterday's session at Lm5.85. Total turnover amounted to 32,732 shares changing hands over 23 deals. Following close of business yesterday best bids for 300 shares at Lm5.65 and best offers of 500 shares at Lm5.90 remained outstanding.

In a company announcement issued on Wednesday, the Board of Directors of Global Financial Services Group plc announced the establishment of MY Insurance Brokers Ltd as a fully owned subsidiary, carrying on the business of insurance broking.

In another company announcement issued yesterday, the Board of Directors of Suncrest Hotels plc announced the resignation of Mr René H. Formosa as a director due to other commitments.

The Malta Stock Exchange share index decreased by 2.146 points or 0.09 per cent over the week and now stands at 2,262.947.
