A man who breached a court-imposed curfew to buy a cheesecake ended up paying a hefty price for his craving after he was fined €250.

Francis Cassar admitted that he had breached bail conditions that obliged him to be indoors between 11pm and 7am. Sources said the police were tipped off about his presence at a well-known Rabat pastizzeria by an anonymous caller.

He justified his action saying he had no bad intentions but just could not resist satisfying his taste buds.

The court, however, warned him that such behaviour was still unacceptable, imposed a €250 fine, and warned that any similar breach in the future would be severely punished.
