Athleta Basketball Club secured another financial boost this week in the shape of a sponsorship deal with the Dragonara Casino Lounge and Bistro.

After unveiling A to Z Electronics as their main sponsors for this season, Athleta have struck up another commercial partnership with Dragonara Casino Lounge and Bistro.

“We cannot emphasise enough how important such strategic partners are for the club,” Athleta said in a statement. “The management of the Dragonara Casino Lounge and Bistro, like all our other partners, has shown faith in Athleta’s on-going project for which we are very grateful.”

This season has been very positive for Athleta so far as they are unbeaten in all competitions and also captured the Detur MBA Shield. On an individual level, Athleta’s Dirk Schembri scooped the season’s first player of the month award for October.

Athleta urged the Malta Basketball Association (MBA) to offer better support to the clubs, both in terms of administration and also financially.

“The clubs see no return in terms of financial aid from the association’s sponsors or gate money which, in truth, is very minimal,” the Athleta statement added.

“Although the association’s work is not easy and one has to appreciate all the good things that are being done, there must be more communication and dialogue as a tool for discussion in areas where the clubs feel that more needs to be done.”
