My husband travels from Malta to Barbados on a regular basis and although he would prefer to fly Air Malta, he has to travel with Ryanair to get the connection with BA to Bridgetown without excessive waiting time. The flight this time has cost £64.97 - cheap you may think... but he was 5.9kg overweight (because of his work tools) and he had to pay £60 in excess, making up a total price of £124.97.

Taking into account that there is no food, drink or pre-seat booking included in this price, it is not cheap. Working out the excess etc., it would be cheaper to fly Air Malta business class with the use of the lounge, free drinks, food and priority boarding.

The moral... cheap is not cheap! Check it out!
