The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices edged up to 115.93 in February, from 115.89 in January.

This primarily reflected an increase of 1.9 per cent in the clothing and footwear
index due to seasonally higher-priced garments.

Other increases were registered in the food and non-alcoholic beverages,  alcoholic beverages and tobacco, communication and health indexes.

The transport index went down by 0.7 per cent, mainly due to lower prices for new motor cars. Drops were also registered by the restaurants and hotels, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, recreation and culture indexes.

In February, the 12-month moving average rate of inflation stood at 3.2 per cent and the annual rate stood at 1.8 per cent.
