Austria will be looking to chalk up their fourth victory in as many matches when they take on Malta in this evening's friendly match.
Last November, Austria followed up victories over Liechtenstein (2-1) and Switzerland (2-1) with a 4-1 win over World Cup 2006 finalists Trinidad and Tobago.
With daunting matches against Ghana and France, the World Cup finalists, awaiting Austria after their meeting with Malta, the Euro 2008 co-hosts are eager to keep their spirits high with another fruitful outing at Ta' Qali this evening.
Josef Hickersberger, the Austrian coach, is confident that his team can stretch their winning run but warned that Malta will be no pushovers, especially if striker Michael Mifsud is in top form.
"Malta should not be underestimated," Hickersberger told reporters yesterday.
"They have a strong defence and in Michael Mifsud, they have a striker who is always looking to hurt opposing defences with his quick incursions into the penalty area.
"If we manage to control Mifsud and use the flanks effectively, I believe we can knock down Malta's resistance," Hickersberger added.
Austria line-up (probable): J. Macho (Kaiserslautern); M. Hiden (R. Vienna), J. Standfest (A. Vienna); A. Ibertsberger (Freiburg), M. Stranzl (Spartak Moscow); A. Ivanschitz (Panathinaikos), R.
