iHibernians made short work of Qormi FC as three first-half goals sent them on their way to a comfortable 4-2 victory at the National Stadium.

The Paolites took the lead on 17 minutes. Referee Mario Apap awarded them a free-kick on the left channel, and Jackson Lima's cross sailed into the path of Rodolfo Soares who stabbed the ball past Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.Hibs doubled their lead on 33 minutes.

The goal came from another set-piece situation when Lima sent in another dangerous ball that was met by Andrew Cohen who headed the ball past a stranded Farrugia.

The match was all over as a contest on five minutes later when Marcelo Dias moved past his marker before unleashing a powerful drive from outside the area that flew into the top corner of the net.

Qormi were handed a lifeline on 59 minutes when Joseph Chetcuti released substitute Gaetan Spiteri in the area and the former Hamrun striker beat Mario Muscat with a shot on the near post.But Hibs soon restored their three-goal advantage when on 69 minutes Lima sped forward before unleashing a powerful drive from 30 metres out that flew past the diving Farrugia.

Qormi reduced the deficit five minutes from time when Chetcuti sent in a dipping cross into the path of Aboubaker Bello Osagie who saw his header partially blocked by Muscat and Spiteri was on hand to push the ball into an empty net.Hibs striker Marcelo Dias was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
