Three matches from the preliminary round of the BoV KO were played last weekend at Corradino with Hibs Go Mobile, Naxxar Danone and Kerygma joining Hamrun Tivoli in the semi-finals.

In the most-awaited match of the week, Hibs took revenge for their upset to Depiro Still in the Louis Borg Cup a few weeks back.

In the end, the fouls situation had its say as Depiro had three players - Rachel Tryon, Rosanne Falzon and Josephine Grima - fouled out at a crucial stage of the match.

The game was balanced all the way with Depiro enjoying a three-point lead, 27-24, at half-time.

Spurred on by forward Lucienne Bezzina, Hibs went on to shift the tide in their favour in the closing minutes of the third quarter to lead 41-38.

Depiro's hopes suffered a massive blow when their best scorer, Tryon, was fouled out. Hibs, winners of the KO the past four seasons, never lost composure though and went on to win 51-46. In the March 28 semi-final, they were paired with Hamrun.

Naxxar will play Kerygma on March 27 for a place in the final. They were fully focused for their cup tie against Luxol last week, withstanding some fierce pressure at the end to preserve their 57-50 victory.

Luxol had the better start but their seven-point lead was wiped out by Naxxar till half-time - 28-22. Luxol then closed the gap to a basket, 52-50, but were unable to add another point to their tally notwithstanding their bold efforts.

Kerygma, with veteran Josette Calleja wreaking havoc in the Qormi zone, had the match wrapped up in the first two sessions when they held a 40-15 lead. Qormi improved but it was not enough to stop Kerygma from achieving a 57-44 win to make their first appearance in the semis.
