Thanks to their victory over Starlites, Hibs Medsea clinched the last semi-final berth in the Detur Shield. The two semi-finals, Luxol vs Hibs and Depiro vs Loyola, are scheduled for January 16.

As expected, Hibs proved too strong for Starlites Sports Experience as the champions achieved their second Group A victory and sealed their place in the semi-finals.

Hibs gained control after the opening minutes to hold a 37-20 half-time lead. With Starlites unable to up their game, Hibs continued to dominate for an emphatic 80-42 victory.

In the other Group A game, leaders Depiro McDonald’s were never troubled by St Andrews as they were in command from the opening minutes. After leading 27-14 at half-time, Depiro went on to record a 73-32 victory.

In the clash between the two teams who qualified for the semi-finals from Group B, Luxol cruised to a comfortable victory over Alyssa Ashley Loyola.

By half- time, Luxol were 48-15 ahead. Steffi Demartino was unstoppable for Luxol as her 33 points surpassed Loyola’s total. Luxol ran out 80-25 winners.

In the last game from Group B, Athleta obtained a hard-earned victory over GuzelPinar Mtarfa , 43-38 the final scoreline. In a balanced match, Athleta were 21-17 in front by half-time.

As the third quarter got underway, Athleta stretched their lead to 14 points, 31-17. Mtarfa recovered but this was not enough to cancel out Athleta’s lead.

Standings: Group A – Depiro 6 (3-0); Hibs 5 (2-1); St Andrews 4 (1-2); Starlites 3 (0-3). Group B – Luxol 6 (3-0); Loyola 5 (2-1); Athleta 4 (1-2), Mtarfa 3 (0-3).
