Hibs 2 - Mosta 0

Hibernians returned to the top of the Premier League standings after lowering the colours of a battling Mosta side 2-0 at the Tedesco Stadium on Monday.

Northern Ireland's Mervyn Smith was the referee of the match who was assisted by his fellow countryman David Hamilton.

The Irish officials soon took centre stage as after seven minutes Andrew Cohen released Luis Edison who was clean through but the Nigerian was upended by Cameroon defender Yannick Ossok.

Smith quickly whistled for a free-kick and after consulting with Attard he brandished the red card to the Mosta defender.

More woes followed Mosta as from the resultant free-kick, Clayton Failla's fierce grounder rolled past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

Mosta tried to battle their way back into the match but they struggled to create any scoring opportunities.

Instead it was Hibs who killed off the match ten minutes from time when Edison released Marcelo Dias who sprinted in the area but his shot was blocked by Mosta goalkeeper Jonathan Debono. Edison was first on the rebound to fire the ball home.

Hibernians winger Clayton Failla was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
