The MFA Protest Board turned down Hibernians protest filed in relation to the BOV Premier League match against Valletta of January 20, played at the National Stadium which the Citizens won 2-1.

Hibs had argued that referee Philip Farrugia committed a technical error after, according to them, he blew his whistle to end the first half proceedings a few seconds before the two minutes allotted for stoppage time had passed.

Therefore, Hibs said that this goes against the Rules of the Game, thus being a technical error.

When Farrugia ended the first half, the Hibernians players were on the verge of putting the Valletta defence on the backfoot with a swift counter attack but they could not finish the action as the referee ended proceedings.

Nonetheless, the MFA Protest Board's decision means the result is to stand and therefore, Valletta and Hibs remain joint-leaders with 34 points after 15 games.
