Hi-Tech Products Limited has launched the Archos AV440 pocket video recorder. The AV440 is the ultimate handheld digital video recorder, with 40 GB of hard disk space, offering TV recording and a portable home entertainment center in a pocket-sized device.

This innovative product allows you to record TV shows and films directly from a TV, VCR or cable/satellite receiver with a convenient one-time set-up TV cradle. Yet the entertainment the AV440 offers goes far beyond the living room.

When on the go, you can watch videos and view photos on the large colour LCD screen, listen to and record music, transfer photos from your digital camera and data files from your PC.

You can record up to 80 hours of TV programmes and video content from a TV, VCR or cable/satellite receiver using the TV cradle. You can programme recordings using the Recording Scheduler, which directly controls the VCR or set-top box tuner.

With the AV440, you can store and watch up to 40 full-length films, and enjoy the video playback on the coloured LCD screen, while on the go. You can also download, transfer or record up to 600 hours of music, store and view up to 400,000 photos in JPEG format and play MP3s, WMA (including protected files) and WAV music files. Listen to and record off the radio, with the optional FM radio and remote control.

The Archos AV440 also has other optional accessories, such as the 4-1 CompactFlash Adaptor for transferring photos from SM, SD, MMC and MS memory cards of digital cameras; a five-volt car adaptor for recharging the AV440 while in the car; a carrying case; and a traveller audio video kit for video recording and playback, when on the go.
