Hello everybody, my name is Dawn and my name came about because mum and dad were arguing about what name to call me. Apparently, dad came up with this brainwave of calling me Dawn because I was born at the crack of dawn.

Such laughter filled our house when I was growing up. Why, most of my classmates envied me because we were such a happy threesome. Since mum and dad sought a divorce though, life has become unbearable and I only see a future of doom and gloom in front of me. Such a cruel word this divorce; it destroys. No wonder such a lot of people were against divorce in our country. Some of those in favour go to Mass and actually receive Holy Communion. What hypocrisy!

Things were ok at home till dad went to a three-day seminar at some five-star hotel. Seems it wasn’t a seminar after all because I heard mum shouting “Womaniser” at dad. I do wish dad thought more of me and less about his bit on the side because I read somewhere that for a man to love his children he must first love his wife. Oh dad, I loved you so much, soooooo, sooooo much!

Dad has been living away from home for six months and I still haven’t got used to it. If divorce was not around I bet mum and dad would have tried to have another go at working on their marriage. Yesterday, I heard mum muttering about forgiveness and all that. I bet she would have forgiven this one lapse if divorce had not got in the way.

My life now consists of long weekends at dad’s place and the rest at mum’s. They both look like death warmed up. Life is now so boring, lifeless and loveless when used to have so much fun together... all because of the buzz words of today: “I want a divorce."
