Sitting on a Salzburg square of a Sunday lunchtime lends a certain perspective to things.

Pipsqueak politicians who don't have the class to rise above laddish polo-shirts and chunky watches, who use their personal clout like a club simply because they can, like the cheap bullies they are, and opportunistic Labourites who smugly go about spewing the party line with scant regard to truth or relevance, are just gnats, like the squeals of irritating infants, worth only a glance of irritation and a sigh of pity.

Which is why Christian Peregin's interview with Prof Fenech came as something of a breath of fresh air. The man stands on his own merits and answers questions rather than spins them.

No doubt Labour's Lil'Elves will find something negative about him, or let the cheap and nasty PN politicians on whose coat-tails they tag do it for them, but it's reassuring that they won't be able to.

When Labour attracts people like Prof Fenech and Dr Therese Commodini Cachia, they might be worth trusting. In the meantime, while they make do with their Star Candidates and Bland Mintoff, they'll forgive me for not considering them worth a vote.
