There will be changes from the original proposal for the reform of primary health care, Health Minister Joseph Cassar said this afternoon.

The proposed reform ran into political problems last week, with Nationalist MP Jean Pierre Farrugia saying he would not back it in Parliament and another Nationalist MP, Robert Arrigo, saying he had reservations.

Dr Cassar said the first draft document on the reform would be changed on the basis of consultations which were currently in progress.

He made his remarks in reply to questions before attending a meeting with the UHM, which also discussed the proposed reform.

UHM General Secretary Gejtu Vella said the union wanted to make sure there were no new imposed charges on patients.
