Daniel Bianchi recently completed a period of research and study at the University of Manchester’s School of Law within The Institute for Science, Ethics and Innovation and the Centre for Social Ethics and Policy, funded by a Wellcome Trust Studentship in Bioethics and Biolaw.

Dr Bianchi focused on issues pertaining to healthcare law and medical jurisprudence, including subjects such as reproductive technology law and the regulation of human reproduction, the regulation of the health professions, clinical negligence and liability for injury, mental health law, consent and confidentiality in health care, organ donation and human materials.

Dr Bianchi presented a dissertation to the University of Manchester entitled ‘The Unborn Child: a comparative study of Maltese and English Law’, which was awarded a distinction.

Last month, Dr Bianchi graduated from the University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law.

Dr Bianchi read law at the University of Malta and graduated Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) in 2004. In 2006, he was awarded a Chevening Scholarship completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in International Law at the University of Edinburgh. He has now returned to his legal practice in Malta.
